23. October 2025Expansion of Cargo Trans Logistik AG in Homberg
Cargo Trans Logistik AG (CTL) is expanding its facilities at its central location in Homberg. The measures include a new access road for trucks, 50 additional parking spaces for trailers, and digitized processes. These steps are a response to increasing order volumes and the growing demands for efficient supply chains. The company’s partners benefit from faster loading and unloading processes at the hub.
Planned Completion by Spring 2026
The expansions also prepare for a specialized charging infrastructure for electric trucks and are expected to be completed by spring 2026. Francesco De Lauso, CEO of CTL AG, states: “Efficiency in loading and unloading does not start at the loading area, but in the yard – with clear processes, short distances, and a well-designed infrastructure.” The expansion of the area at the central hub is necessary to support the company’s growth and further develop logistics processes in Homberg. De Lauso adds: “By continuously optimizing the goods handling on our premises, we remain reliable and future-oriented, as our partners expect from us.”
Successful Pilot Project: Truck Fast Lane Increases Efficiency
Currently, the general cargo network is testing a fully digital gate management system. Trucks register upon arrival, receive their access or parking space in advance, and can enter the premises without interruption. De Lauso explains: “The ‚Fastlane‘ system uses license plate recognition to enable direct access and significantly reduce waiting times and manual process steps.” The pilot project is already showing success, but usage is currently limited due to the existing access road. “With the expansion of our premises, we will be able to integrate significantly more vehicles efficiently and seamlessly into operations,” De Lauso summarizes.
In combination with the new trailer parking spaces near the warehouse, distances will be shortened and yard management improved. “The waiting times for trailers will be reduced, and the loading of the unloading bays will also be accelerated,” De Lauso continues. This increases the overall efficiency of goods handling, a crucial factor in meeting the growing demands of the general cargo market.
Construction Preparations: Completion by Spring 2026
Preparations for the expansion have already begun. Abraham Garcia Martinez, CFO of CTL AG, emphasizes: “We are ready: The supervisory board has approved, and the building application has been submitted.” The investment, which is in the mid-seven-figure range, will be fully financed from internal funds. The tendering process for the construction is already underway. Garcia Martinez adds: “We are confident that construction can begin later this year and that we will successfully complete the project by spring 2026.”
Expansion Enables Charging Park for Electric Trucks
The expansion not only optimizes processes on-site but also lays the foundation for another forward-looking construction project by CTL: its own charging park for electric trucks. The allocation of 2.5 megawatts of electricity from the local grid operator has already been secured. Garcia Martinez explains: “With the expansion of our premises, we are now starting the concrete planning of our own charging infrastructure, taking an important step towards sustainable logistics processes.”
